Overview: The AC Region of Caesars Entertainment is teaming up with National Parks Trust to provide a means to bring underserved youth to parks. This project serves as a component of a broader effort to encourage outdoor activities. The National Education Association and the President's Council on Fitness endorse and promote these efforts. The Kids to Parks program is a supportive project of First Lady – Michelle Obama's initiative, "Let's Move! Outside."
Purpose: The purpose is to develop local community partnerships (Caesars Entertainment, Atlantic City Public Schools and Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge), while introducing inner city youth to exploring efforts that cultivate future conservationist, environmental professionals and promote a healthy lifestyle.
Selected School: The New York Ave School in Atlantic City has been chosen to participate in these Kids to Parks Activities.
Event: Hosting of group visitation to Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge Park.
Who: 60 3rd graders from New York Ave School, 5 School Staff members and 10 HERO Volunteers.
What: Educational opportunity through the visitation at the Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge. The students will take part in 3 wildlife learning experience. The programs will be directed by the refuge staff and volunteers. Lunch will be provided from the schools free lunch program. Healthy snacks and water will be provided from Caesars Entertainment
